Refunds, Returns & Exchanges

If a book reaches you damaged, or simply isn't what you hoped for, we will put it right. Here is exactly how, and what the law entitles you to.

Last updated: 10 August 2026

1. Your seven-day right to cancel (printed books)

Because you buy from us online, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you a cooling-off period of seven days. You may cancel a printed-book order within seven days of receiving it, without giving any reason.

Return the book to us unused and in resaleable condition, and we will refund the price of the book in full within 30 days. You pay the cost of returning it, unless the book was damaged, faulty or incorrect — in which case we cover it.

2. Damaged, faulty or incorrect books

If your order arrives damaged, misprinted, incomplete, or is simply the wrong title, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we will, at your choice:

  • send a replacement copy at our cost, or
  • refund you in full, including the original delivery charge.

You will not be asked to pay return postage for a damaged or incorrect book. A photograph of the problem is usually all we need — you may not even have to send it back.

This is in addition to your rights under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, which entitles you to return goods that are unsafe, defective or not fit for purpose within six months of delivery.

3. Exchanges

We are happy to exchange a printed book for another title of equal value within 14 days of delivery, provided it is unread and in resaleable condition. If the new title costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, we refund the difference. Delivery for the replacement is on us for the first exchange on any order.

4. eBooks and digital downloads

Digital products — eBooks, workbooks, worksheets and printable tools — are delivered immediately and cannot be returned once the download has begun. For that reason the seven-day cooling-off period does not apply to them, as provided for in section 42(2) of ECTA.

But we will always help if something has gone wrong. If a file will not download, will not open, is corrupted, is the wrong title, or was accidentally bought twice, contact us and we will fix it or refund you. We would far rather resolve a genuine problem than hold you to a technicality.

We encourage you to read the free sample chapter before buying, so you know what you are getting.

5. Orders that never arrive

If your order has not reached you within the timeframes in our Shipping & Delivery Policy, tell us. We will trace it, and if it cannot be found we will resend or refund in full. You are never out of pocket for a parcel we cannot deliver.

6. How to request a refund, return or exchange

Email with:

  • your name and order date
  • the title and format concerned
  • what went wrong, or that you wish to cancel
  • a photograph, if the book arrived damaged

We acknowledge every request within two business days and tell you the next step. You do not need to send anything back until we have confirmed the return address.

7. How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the same method you paid with, through Payfast. Once approved, we process the refund within five business days; your bank may take a few days more to show it. We never issue store credit in place of a refund unless you ask for it.

8. Bulk, church and group orders

Bulk orders are covered by the same rights. Because larger orders are often printed or shipped specially, please contact us before returning them so we can arrange collection sensibly.

9. If we cannot agree

Please talk to us first — in our experience almost everything is resolved with one honest email. If we cannot resolve it together, you may refer the matter to the National Consumer Commission or an accredited consumer ombud. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under South African law.
